PREVIOUS EVENTS

This event takes place every two years. The first event was held in 2011. Its unique features include multidisciplinary issues, the presentation of papers on Oncology, and the participation of companies that display their products and innovative services in the field of health care.

Nine hundred people came to the event in 2011. In 2013, the event welcomed 1.200 attendees; The 3rd Congress, held in 2015, was especially outstanding. In addition to hosting 1,000 attendees, the Congress also included the 1st Radiology Congress and the 1st Multidisciplinary Head and Neck Oncology Congress, both of which were held on the same date and at the same place. Another outstanding achievement at that time was the formalization of the Amazonas Chapter of the Sociedade Brasileira de Cirurgia Oncológica/SBCO) (Brazilian Society of Surgical Oncology)

In 2017, the Congress hosted 1,180 attendees. 102 papers were presented and 153 guest speakers gave 122 presentations on many interesting topics.

The Pan-Amazonian Oncology Congress, held in 2019, consolidated and strengthened the field of oncology, placing the State of Amazonas in the national and international spotlight. At that time, 1,500 attendees participated in the event and had the opportunity to hear 165 Brazilian and international speakers. One hundred papers were presented. All articles submitted to the event were published in the Revista Brasileira de Cancerologia - RBC 2020 oncology journal. In addition, the North Region Chapter of the Associação Brasileira de Enfermagem em Oncologia e Onco-Hematologia – ABRENFOH (the Brazilian Association of Oncology and Onco-Hematology Nursing) was formalized, thanks to which the Amazon Region has access to discussions on technical, scientific, social and economic issues.

The Congress held in 2021 during the Covid pandemic posed new challenges, one of which was to organize an event of this size totally on-line! To this end, the organizers of the 6th Pan Amazonian Oncology Congress, relied on a platform that allowed all the event activities to be transmitted simultaneously to 600 attendees from the Amazon Region and from nine other states in Brazil. The event attendees heard presentations by 97 guest speakers from Brazil and 11 speakers from abroad. In addition, seven broad topics were discussed at round table discussions, forums, workshops, clinical sessions and, satellite symposiums. Clinical case studies, presentations, and exhibitions of scientific research papers were also included in the event.
